MERCHANT NAVY WELFARE BOARD (INDIA)

About Us

The Merchant Navy Welfare Board (India) (MNWB) is a registered welfare organization dedicated to promoting the welfare, rights, safety, and well-being of merchant seafarers and their families across India.

MNWB serves as a national coordinating platform bringing together seafarers' welfare organizations, Port Welfare Committees (PWCs), maritime trade unions, welfare centers, maritime stakeholders, educational institutions, and industry partners. The Board works to strengthen cooperation among organizations engaged in seafarers' welfare and to advance the principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC, 2006).

The Board encourages Port Welfare Committees, Seafarers' Welfare Centres, maritime charities, welfare organizations, trade unions, and industry stakeholders to join its network and collectively contribute to improving the quality of welfare services available to seafarers in Indian ports and at sea.

Through strategic partnerships with government authorities, shipping companies, maritime institutions, trade unions, and international welfare organizations, MNWB is committed to building a safer, healthier, and more supportive environment for Indian seafarers worldwide.
